Whole House Humidifier, Service, Repair, and Installations

The Denver/Boulder Colorado area's are know to have a very dry climate. The dry air impacts many areas of our life. Our home and body for example tend to change with dry air. It dries out our skin and hair as well as all the wood in our homes. The wood contracts and expands with climate changes, and so does our bodies. However it has a greater impact on our bodies. When the air is dry, it dries out our hair, our skin, and our nasal passages. Hair becomes more brittle, our skin can crack and bleed, and nose bleeds are more common in a dry climate. And to top it all off, when we run our furnaces that dries out the air even more.

Installing a humidifier can change everything. By adding moisture to your furnace system with a humidifier you can eliminate all the problems you would have with dry air. Hair, skin and nasal passages stays moist, leaving you feel more comfortable. Another added benefit of having a humidifier as a part of your furnace heating system is that the moisture in the air holds heat molecules. That means we tend to feel more comfortable with cooler temperatures, so you can turn your thermostat down and save money.

There are a couple things to know about humidifiers before adding one, or if you already have one in your home there are a couple things to know about maintaining your humidifier.

First, there are a couple different styles. One is what is called a pass through, because water is always passing through the humidifier when the furnace is running. It works allot like a evaporate cooler. The water passes through the filter and the air in your ventilation system pulls the moisture through your home. The other is a steam system. It works by heating the water into steam and the steam shoots into ventilation system, and again the air pulls the moisture through your home. They both require maintenance. The pass through humidifiers need to be cleaned out and the filters should be changed, and depends on how much it's used the filter should be changed yearly. The steam system doesn't have filters, but has reservoirs and heaters that can corrode because of the water. In fact the harder the water the faster it corrodes, as the hard water attacks the parts. The pass through corrodes too, but the filter is what corrodes and it can and should be changed.

The Denver/Boulder metro area's water tends to be on the hard side. And depends on where you live the water can be very hard thus causing more damage to not only the humidifier but to all the appliances that use water in your home. Therefore maintenance is important to keep your humidifier and appliances running through the years.
