- Check your venting for lint build up and have it cleaned if it's dirty
- Have your venting cleaned and inspected regularly
- Keep the dryer lint filter cleaned and scrub it with a brush and water periodically
- Check outside where your dryer vent terminates to be sure it is unobstructed and that the flap opens and works properly
- Have your dryer professionally serviced and cleaned to avoid the risk of a lint fire in the dryer
